BARBER / HAIRDRESSER

Tasks Include:
 Consult with clients and advise hairstyle and hair treatment options
 Providing advice on hair care, beauty products and hairstyles
 Shampooing hair and conditioning scalps
 Colouring, straightening and permanently waving hair with chemical solutions
 Cutting hair with scissors, clippers and razors
 Trim and groom clients’ facial hair with combs, razors, scissors and clippers
 Styling hair into dreadlocks and braids and adding hair extensions
 Maintain salon sanitation and health standards, including cleaning and disinfecting
    workstations
 Shaving and trimming beards and moustaches
 Cleaning work areas and sanitising instruments
 Arranging appointments and collecting payments
 May clean, colour, cut and style wigs and hairpieces
 Cuts, styles, colours, straightens and permanently waves hair, and treats hair and
    scalp conditions
 Process client payments
 Provides barbering hair care services for clients which include shampooing and
    conditioning, cutting, shaping sideburns, nape of neck, middle and top part of the
    head into various haircuts and styles to suit client
 Makes minor repairs on equipment such as replacing switches, plugs and cords
 Record services provided on cashiers' tickets or receive payment from customers.
 Maintain financial or account records
 Keep card files on clientele, recording notes of work done, products used and fees
   charged after each visit.
 Maintain client information or service records
 Order materials, supplies, or equipment

Skills required:
 Relevant qualification and experience.
 Sound knowledge of current hairstyles and trends.
