Gib Fixer Assistant Wanted

Work Location: Auckland Region

Employment type: Full time (minimum 30 hours/per week, roster from Monday to Saturday), Permanent role

Our pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour depending on skills and experience

We are a construction company based in Auckland 

We are now looking for 8x Gib Fixer Assistants to join our supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right people and will allow access into a reputable and experienced company.

Tasks you may carry out:

·       Clean the construction sites for the fixing and plastering work for structures and buildings

·       Load or unload or move plasterboard, materials, tools and equipment & heavy lifting around the construction sites

·       Set up the job sites and prepare the layouts

·       Install plasterboard on timber and metal frames used in building construction and repair

·       Assist in fixing the plasterboard using the correct method under NZ building Code

·       Assist in ensuring that all fixings, screws or nails, are seated just below the surface of the plasterboard and are fastened at correct spacing, fastener type, length
and gauge

·       Assist plasterers/gib fixers and performs routine tasks in applying plasterboard, plaster mix, and other materials to fix the interior walls or exterior buildings at construction sites as directed by the plasterers and gib fixers.

·       Assist in cutting, positioning, and fixing various types of plasterboard, ceiling systems and composite wall linings to walls, etc

·       Assist in applying coats of plaster to walls, ceilings, or partitions of buildings, using trowels, brushes and other hand/power tools

·       Assist in applying and finishing acoustic, insulating, and fireproofing materials bonded with plaster, plastic cement, and similar materials

·       Assist in gib fixing, holes and damage repairs

·       Checking site safe and Identifying working at heights hazards, report risk and work

·       after hazard relief

·       Help plasterers and gib fixers with their work whenever necessary

·       Follow instructions from supervisors

·       Use equipment, machinery & tools in a responsible & safe manner

·       Clean work area, maintaining work tools and machines daily after the work is done

To be successful you will need to:

·       Ideal candidates should have at least 1 year’s relevant work experience in the same field/industry, OR

·       Have a level 4 qualification or aboveequivalent overseas qualification can be accepted

·       Must be physically fit and able for manual labour, heavy lifting and working EWP, stilts an d ladders.

·       Be a great team player, be able to follow instructions

·       Good eye for details and an ability to solve problems practically and effectively

·       Have “can-do” attitude
