We are looking for an experienced and motivated WTR Operator to join our team, working on a variety of civil construction and earthmoving projects across Hastings and Napier.

About the Role

As a WTR Operator, you'll be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a range of earthmoving equipment, including 1.7-tonne to 20-tonne excavators, on a variety of construction and infrastructure projects.

Your day-to-day duties may include:

  • Operating excavators and other earthmoving machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Trenching, bulk earthworks, site cuts, backfilling, and final trimming.
  • Loading trucks and moving materials around site.
  • Assisting with roading, and general civil construction works.
  • Carrying out daily pre-start checks and basic machine maintenance.
  • Working alongside ground crews and following directions from supervisors.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised worksite.
  • Following all health and safety procedures and company policies at all times.

What We're Looking For

  • Current WTR (Wheels, Tracks & Rollers) endorsement – essential.
  • Proven experience operating 1.7T–20T earthmoving machinery.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Strong understanding of safe operating practices.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Site Safe Foundation Passport is highly desirable.
  • Full Class 1 driver's licence (Class 2 is an advantage).
