We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in our North Shore Auckland office, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work per week.

 

Responsibilities of the Position

  • Maintain accurate financial records and a full set of accounts using manual and computerised systems.
  • Record daily financial transactions and ensure accounts are accurately maintained and balanced.
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including processing supplier invoices, preparing customer invoices, recording payments, and reconciling supplier and customer accounts.
  • Prepare invoices, purchase orders, bank deposits, and process incoming and outgoing payments.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Monitor company cash flow and provide regular financial updates to management.
  • Verify financial transactions and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and report any discrepancies or irregularities.
  • Maintain GST records, assist with GST return preparation, and support payroll processing, including employee timesheets and leave records.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, Profit & Loss reports, expenditure reports, and assist with budget preparation and expenditure monitoring.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end reconciliations and prepare supporting financial documentation for external accountants.
  • Record and allocate construction project expenditure, including material purchases, supplier invoices, subcontractor payments, and other project-related costs.
  • Monitor project costs against approved budgets, maintain project cost records, and prepare project expenditure reports to support management and Project Managers.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for construction projects and general business operations.

 

Job pre-requisites:

  • A qualification equivalent to NZQF Level 4 or above in accounting, finance or a related discipline.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience may substitute for the qualification.
  • Eyes for details and a hard-working attitude.
  • Experience using Xero or similar accouting software
  • Must have legal right to work in New Zealand.
