Commercial Cleaner – Tauranga & Bay of Plenty

Work Type: Full-time, Permanent (Minimum guaranteed 30 hours per week up to 50 hours by agreement)

Pay Rate: $26.50 per hour (Time-and-a-half / 1.5x for hours worked above 45 hours per week)

Hours & Shift Expectations

• Shift Pattern: Rostered/split shifts including late evenings, night shifts, and mandatory weekend work (typically Monday to Saturday, 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM, subject to roster).

• Guaranteed Minimum: 30 hours per week (additional hours up to 50 per week available).

• Flexibility: Applicants must be available and willing to work late evening shifts and weekend rosters as required by commercial client contracts.

Key Responsibilities

• General deep cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and polishing of offices, commercial spaces, kitchens, and common areas.

• Cleaning and sanitising bathrooms, toilets, and food prep areas using colour-coded safety systems.

• High dusting of ceilings, vents, overhead fixtures, beams, and light fittings.

• Operating industrial vacuum cleaners, floor burnishers, scrubbers, and carpet extraction equipment.

• Floor care including stripping, re-waxing, and glass/stainless steel cleaning.

• Safe handling, application, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and solvents.

• Water-blasting, sand-blasting, or exterior cleaning as required.

• Waste removal, recycling management, and restocking washroom supplies.

• Strictly following all Health and Safety requirements at all times.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience: No prior cleaning experience required — full site induction and comprehensive training will be provided. (Prior commercial cleaning experience is welcomed/advantageous).

• Transport: Must own or have regular access to a reliable private vehicle with a valid driver’s licence. (This is a mobile role requiring travel between multiple client sites in Tauranga and surrounding regions).

• Availability: Must be fully available for late evening (6:00 PM – 12:00 AM) and weekend shifts.

• Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit and capable of lifting, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.

• Background Checks: Ability to pass a Ministry of Justice (MOJ) criminal history check and pre-employment drug test.

• Communication: English skills sufficient to read Safety Data Sheets (SDS), understand chemical instructions, and follow site safety plans.
