We are a busy Bakery and Takeaway operating in Waipapa, Far North, Northland.

We require a Bakery Chef who has the ability to take charge of baking and cooking.

We anticipate the candidate will be able to expand the business to cater for the requirements of the customers who frequent the business.

We are currently looking for a Bakery/Chef to operate this business for us.

This is a permanent, full-time position with a minimum of 35 hours per week. We operate 6 days a week and to have our products ready for sale, the position requires early morning starts.

For a suitably qualified Bakery Chef we are offering a competitive hourly rate between $28 & $35 per hour depending on experience and ability to fulfil the responsibilities of the position.

 Job Description but not limited to:

This position will likely be working from 5am until 1pm.

In this position you will be required to prepare and bake a wide range of hot patisseries and rolls, pies and slices and food preparations as well as overseeing the operations of the shop. Your duties will include: 

·     Ensuring the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations

·         Checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredients

·         Preparing food and training staff to prepare food for the customers

·         Kneading, maturing, cutting, moulding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry goods

·         Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times

·         Managing sales staff and assistants and demonstrate ability to train new recruits

·         Keeping inventory of ingredients and sales products

·         Overseeing Health & Safety procedures

·         Overseeing Food Safety Standards. 

The ideal candidate will: 

-       Have at least 3 years of experience as a baker and bakery chef

-       Be motivated and able to take charge of the bakery

-       Be able to work independently

-       Be willing and able to work weekends and on public holidays

-       Have the legal entitlement to work in New Zealand

-       Have a good understanding of the business and be able to grow the business
