The company has production, warehouse, supply chain, quality and machinery maintenance functions supporting its manufacturing operations.

We are seeking three full-time Production Supervisors to supervise and coordinate Machine Operators and other production workers in a controlled and high-hygiene manufacturing environment.

Job Description

The Production Supervisors will supervise the daily activities of Machine Operators and other production workers involved in the processing, production and packaging of food-related, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, health-product and similar products.

The role includes allocating production duties, monitoring production processes and output, overseeing machinery operation, training production staff and ensuring compliance with production, hygiene, quality and workplace health and safety requirements.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

The Production Supervisors will be responsible for:

  • Supervising, coordinating and scheduling the daily activities of Machine Operators and other production workers.
  • Allocating production duties and monitoring staffing, workflow and output to ensure production schedules and targets are met.
  • Overseeing the setup, operation and cleaning of production and processing machinery in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Monitoring production processes, equipment performance, downtime and wastage, and resolving or reporting operational issues.
  • Ensuring production staff comply with Good Manufacturing Practice, hygiene, food safety, quality assurance and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Checking that raw materials, processing materials and packaging materials are available and correctly used for each production run.
  • Ensuring batch records, production records, cleaning records and other required documentation are completed accurately.
  • Training and guiding production workers in equipment operation, standard operating procedures, hygiene, safety and quality requirements.
  • Coordinating with the Quality, Warehouse, Supply Chain, Maintenance and Management teams and preparing relevant production and operational reports.

Key Terms and Conditions

Employment type: Full-time, permanent employment.

Positions available: 3.

Minimum guaranteed hours: 30 hours per week.

Pay rate: $29.00 to $32.00 per hour, depending on relevant qualifications, work experience, skills and suitability.

Location of work: Auckland.

Actual earnings: Actual earnings are based on the hourly rate and hours worked. There are no piece rates, commission payments or non-guaranteed bonus arrangements forming a significant part of the employees’ earnings.

Applicants who meet only the minimum requirements should expect to be considered at the lower end of the pay range.

Applicants with stronger relevant supervisory experience, qualifications and production knowledge may be considered for the higher end of the pay range.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical, manufacturing, food technology, pharmaceutical science, business, management, operations or another relevant field, together with at least six months of relevant work experience covering the practical production, machinery or supervisory area not covered by the qualification; or
  • A relevant NZQCF Level 4 or higher qualification, or a comparable overseas qualification, together with at least one year of relevant work experience; or
  • At least two years of direct supervisory, team-leading or management experience in a food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, cosmetic, health-product or similar controlled and high-hygiene manufacturing environment.

Relevant qualifications or work experience must relate to mechanical, manufacturing, production, food processing, pharmaceutical production, business, management, operations or another field applicable to the position.

Applicants must also have:

  • An understanding of production processes and production machinery.
  • The ability to supervise, coordinate and train production workers.
  • An understanding of hygiene, quality and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • The ability to keep accurate production and operational records.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work rotating shifts, including early mornings, afternoons or weekends, if required.
