David O'Neill Contracting Ltd is a well-established Agricultural and Cartage Contracting business based in Omarama, North Otago, proudly operating for over 25 years. We provide a wide range of agricultural contracting services across the region including Silage, Balage, Carting, Fert Spreading, Harvesting, Drilling, and more. We run a modern fleet of Scania trucks, Massey Ferguson & Fendt tractors, along with a variety of agricultural implements.
We're on the lookout for motivated and reliable truck drivers to join our team for the busy season from August through to April. Positions available include:
- Fertiliser Spreader Driver
- Long-Haul Carting
- Silage and Balage Cartage
What to expect in each of these roles: Fert Spreader Driver (August - April)
- Operating a Scania P410 during the day on and off road
- Using Tabula (Tracmap) daily regarding jobs and orders
- Communicating with farmers and other staff
- Operation of a V-bin trailer
- Working independently with good use of time management
Long-Haul Carting (August - April)
- Driving a Scania R620 + 5-axle trailer carting Wool, Fertiliser, Hay & Straw wtc.
- Working independently with good use of time management
- Mainly driving on road with some off-road trips
Silage & Balage Cartage (October - March)
- Operating Scania 8x4 trucks with either a flat deck or with silage bins
- Off-road driving carting silage and/or balage to stack or wrap sites
- Working within a crew
(There is also the opportunity for these roles to become full-time positions, with winter work available carting grain, balage, straw, wool, and fertiliser.)
What we're looking for:
- Class 4 license required for all roles but bonus if you have Class 5 as well. (Class 5 will be required for the long-haul carting position)
- Off road driving experience
- Good communication skills
- Someone who can work unsupervised or within a team environment
- General knowledge of fertiliser products (Fert Spreader Position)
- Maintain a correct and up to date logbook and other bookkeeping requirements
- Reliable, honest and hard working
- Maintain a clean work environment and look after gear
