ZAZA Dessert Jungle is New Zealand's wildest dessert destination — serving premium açaí soft-serve, loaded brownies, loaded cheesecakes, etc. We're a busy, customer-focused business and we're looking for an experienced Store Manager to lead our team and run the day-to-day operations of the store.

Key responsibilities

  • Determine product mix, stock levels and service standards — decide which product ranges the store carries, set stock-holding levels, and define the standard of customer service expected across the team.
  • Formulate and implement purchasing and marketing policies, and set prices — manage supplier relationships and ordering, plan how products are marketed, and set retail pricing to meet margin targets.
  • Promote and advertise the store's goods and services — plan and run in-store promotions, seasonal campaigns and social media/local advertising to grow foot traffic and sales.
  • Sell goods and services to customers and advise them on product use — lead by example on the shop floor, assist customers, and provide expert product advice.
  • Maintain records of stock levels and financial transactions — oversee inventory records, stocktakes, point-of-sale reconciliation and daily banking/reporting.
  • Undertake budgeting for the store — prepare and manage the store budget, monitor sales against targets, and control operating costs, wastage and shrinkage.
  • Control the selection, training and supervision of staff — recruit, roster, train and manage the performance of retail staff, and build a positive team culture.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations — maintain a safe store for staff and customers and meet all Health and Safety at Work Act obligations.
  • Direct and coordinate the daily operations of the store — open/close the store, manage cash handling and security, resolve customer issues, and keep the store presentable and well-merchandised.

Skills and experience required (minimum requirements)

  • At least 2 years' relevant retail experience, OR a relevant qualification
  • Ability to lead, roster and train a retail team.
  • Sound commercial skills — pricing, budgeting, stock control and sales reporting.
  • Strong customer-service focus and communication skills.
  • Availability to work a full-time roster including some weekends, public holidays and evening shifts.
  • Legally entitled to work in New Zealand.

What we offer
