Speed Drain limited is seeking a reliable and physically capable Drain Unblocker / Drainage Labourer to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with clearing blocked drains and carrying out routine maintenance of drainage, sewerage and stormwater systems at residential and commercial sites.
- Inspect drains and identify the location and likely cause of blockages.
- Clear blocked drains, sewer lines and stormwater systems.
- Operate drain-cleaning equipment, including drain rods, water-jetting machines and other relevant tools.
- Remove debris, waste, grease, roots and other materials obstructing drainage systems.
- Assist with cleaning, maintaining and servicing drains, pipes, manholes and sewerage systems.
- Excavate and clear areas around drainage systems where required.
- Assist with locating damaged or obstructed drainage pipes.
- Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of drain-cleaning equipment.
- Load, unload and transport tools, equipment and materials to work sites.
- Set up safe work areas, including barriers and warning signs.
- Follow workplace health and safety, hygiene and environmental procedures.
- Complete basic job records and report any damaged drainage infrastructure to the supervisor.
- Perform other related drainage and general labouring duties as reasonably required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in drain unblocking, drainage maintenance, plumbing labouring or a similar role is preferred but not essential.
- Able to safely operate drain-cleaning tools and equipment, or willing to be trained.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual work, including lifting, bending, digging and working outdoors.
- Comfortable working around drains, wastewater and confined work areas.
- Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions.
- Good awareness of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- A full or restricted New Zealand driver licence is preferred.
- Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand or be able to obtain the appropriate work visa.
