Job Title: Welder
Hourly rate: $27~ $35
Job location: Auckland
Employment type: full-time, permanent
Minimum Hours per week: at least 30 hours per week

Role Summary
We are seeking skilled and meticulous Aluminium Welders to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will fabricate and join custom architectural aluminium products—such as window/door frames, louvers, balustrades, facades, and bespoke structural elements.

Because our products are visually prominent features in modern architecture, your focus will be on producing high-strength, cosmetically flawless welds with minimal heat distortion.

Key Responsibilities

Fabrication & Assembly: Perform precision TIG (GTAW) and MIG (GMAW) welding on thin-gauge to heavy aluminium extrusions, sheets, and structural components.

Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings, architectural shop drawings, and weld symbols to meet exact dimensional specifications.

Surface Preparation & Cleaning: Clean and prepare aluminium joints (removing oxide layers, oil, and contaminants) prior to welding to ensure structural integrity and prevent porosity.

Fit-up & Jigging: Setup, clamp, and use custom jigs/fixtures to maintain tight tolerances and prevent heat warping during welding.

Finishing & Quality Control: Inspect completed welds for defects (cracks, porosity, undercutting); grind, blend, and finish weld seams where seamless visual appearance is required prior to powder coating or anodizing.

Equipment Maintenance: Maintain welding machines, torches, gas supplies, and wire feed systems to keep production running smoothly.

Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to workshop safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a safe extraction environment for aluminium fumes.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications or at least two years of relevant work experience.
  • High pride in workmanship; capable of producing smooth, uniform "stack of dimes" TIG welds or flush-sanded joints for architectural finishes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with tight tolerance requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot weld distortion and material warpage on complex geometric frameworks.
  • Able to work self-sufficiently or with a team.
