Core Technology Platform Leadership Role
Auckland based, full-time, permanent role. Lead core technology platforms across cloud infrastructure, DevOps, policy and claims systems, helping shape scalable, secure and future-ready ways of working. Happy to talk flexible working.
This high-impact platform leadership role will see you supporting QBE Pacific's transformation agenda:
- Own the strategy and performance of core technology platforms across cloud infrastructure, DevOps, policy and claims systems, shaping scalable, secure and future-ready ways of working.
- Lead a talented team of engineers and platform specialists to deliver scalable, secure and high-performing platforms that support QBE's transformation journey.

In this role, you'll set the direction for QBE Pacific's core technology platforms and help ensure they are scalable, secure and aligned to business priorities. You'll work closely with architecture, cyber security, engineering and business teams to strengthen platform reliability, modernise ways of working and support QBE's transformation journey.
- Define and lead platform strategy, vision and roadmaps across core systems, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, lifecycle management and strategic business outcomes by engaging with the business stakeholders and technology stakeholders
- Drive platform reliability and operational excellence through strong performance, security, incident management, recovery practices, platform health monitoring and automation of platform operations
- Lead modern engineering practices, including cloud migration, automation, AI-enabled innovation and secure, efficient delivery across value streams.
- Build effective partnerships with internal teams, platform vendors, managed service providers and system integrators to support core platforms and systems.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team by role modelling QBE's values, supporting career growth and fostering an inclusive culture of continuous improvement.
You're a strategic, people-focused leader who can bring strong platform, infrastructure and engineering capability to this secondment. You'll be comfortable leading through change, building trusted relationships and supporting teams to deliver secure, scalable and reliable technology outcomes.
- Experience leading the strategy, development and operation of enterprise-scale technology platforms across complex environments.
- Strong understanding of modern engineering practices, including secure-by-design principles, CI/CD and DevSecOps.
- Ability to partner effectively with stakeholders, vendors, managed service providers and system integrators to deliver quality outcomes.
- Understanding of platform security, governance and compliance, ideally within a regulated environment such as insurance or financial services.
- A collaborative leadership style, with a focus on coaching, capability uplift and building inclusive, high-performing teams.
