Lead Driver

We are looking for an experienced Driver who wants to make a positive difference every day, drive the development of themselves and others and learn new skills along the way. Reporting to the Team Manager, this role plays a key part in supporting the day-to-day success of Milk Collection operations.
Some of your key responsibilities include:
- Running and setting up daily milk collection schedules within Genesis to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Co-ordinating daily shift activities and allocating resources, including staff and truck assignments, to meet operational requirements.
- Maintaining clear communication channels with Planning, Dispatch, Fleet Services, drivers, depot management, and other stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient milk collection.
- Monitoring operational systems and reports to ensure collection plans are achieved and responding proactively to issues as they arise.
- Supporting milk collection operations on a day-to-day basis, maintaining effective communication across teams and shifts to ensure successful shift handovers.
- Supporting the development and implementation of new processes, systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assisting with recruitment activities, onboarding, and basic induction and training of new team members.
- Undertaking milk collection and transportation duties, including the pickup, transport, and delivery of liquid milk and milk products, in accordance with the Level 5B Tanker Operator requirements and all relevant safety and quality standards.
This is a permanent position which operates on a 3 days on, 3 nights on and 3 days off roster.
You will be passionate about working as part of the Transport team for Fonterra and will be a role model for the other drivers to benchmark against around driving behaviour, safety and culture and exhibiting a positive attitude.
- Were looking for someone with experience in a transport environment who can effectively coordinate people, resources, and priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- You'll bring strong planning and organisational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience supporting leaders, coordinating day-to-day operations, or working with scheduling and operational systems will be highly regarded.
- Most importantly, you'll be a strong communicator with a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and delivering great operational outcomes.
- A Full Class 5 license is essential.
