Site Food Safety & Quality Manager - Reporoa

We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Food Safety & Quality Manager to join our team at Reporoa. Reporting to the Regional FSQ Manager and working as a key member of the Site Leadership Team, you will provide leadership and direction to ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality, and compliance across the site. As the senior FSQ authority on site, you'll play a critical role in supporting Fonterra's ambition to be the world's most trusted source of dairy nutrition. You will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Food Safety & Quality systems, build a strong food safety culture, and partner closely with Operations to ensure robust risk management and sound decision-making across manufacturing and storage operations.
Key accountabilities include:
- Leading and embedding a strong food safety and quality culture across the site through coaching, training, and leadership.
- Owning and continuously improving the Site Food Safety & Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with regulatory, customer, certification, and Fonterra requirements.
- Providing expert guidance on food safety, quality, and compliance matters, including change management, product disposition, and non-standard operations.
- Leading internal and external audits, inspections, and verifications while ensuring audit readiness and timely action closure.
- Managing site responses to food safety, quality, and compliance incidents and acting as a key interface with regulatory agencies.
- Partnering with site leadership to drive continuous improvement and deliver sustainable, long-term solutions to FSQ challenges.
You are a passionate food safety and quality professional who combines technical expertise with strong leadership capability. You are comfortable influencing at all levels, making sound risk-based decisions, and driving continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
Success factors include:
- Demonstrated experience in food safety, quality, or regulatory compliance within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Food Safety & Quality Management Systems, including HACCP, Risk Management Programmes (RMPs), certification schemes, validation programmes, and prerequisite systems.
- Experience leading or participating in internal and external audits.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build effective relationships across teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing team capability.
- Dairy industry experience would be advantageous.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Quality Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
