New Zealand Live Fish Market Ltd is supplying premium live seafood to both domestic and international markets. As our export business continues to grow, we are expanding our presence in China and exporting an increasing range of premium New Zealand products.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven China Market Business Director to join our leadership team.
This pivotal role will focus on driving business growth, market entry strategies, and brand development across mainland China. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in senior business roles, coupled with a deep understanding of Chinese consumer dynamics and regulatory landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement annual business strategies and budgets tailored for the Chinese market.
- Identify and evaluate investment opportunities and expansion plans within China.
- Lead high-stakes negotiations for commercial contracts and strategic partnerships.
- Represent the company at government, trade, and industry forums to strengthen relationships.
- Analyze market intelligence and competitor activities to inform executive decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand export requirements and Chinese import regulations.
- Provide regular performance reports to the Board and Managing Director, highlighting growth metrics.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior business roles with a focus on global markets.
- Bachelor abvoe degree in business management
- Professional fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English for effective communication.
- Strong negotiation skills with experience in managing high-level stakeholder relations.
- Proven track record in P&L management and revenue scaling in a competitive environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Chinese consumer trends and industry-specific distribution networks.
- Ability to navigate and comply with complex commercial laws and regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills for market intelligence and strategic planning.
- May travel between NZ and China frequently
Compensation
The hourly wage for this full-time position ranges from $35 to $40, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
