Location: Howick, Auckland
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Minimum 30hours per week
Pay Rate: NZ$35-$40 per hour, depending on skills and experience

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Motor Mechanic to join our team at The Detail Hub in Auckland.

The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out vehicle servicing, maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and repairs to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable and maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing and scheduled maintenance of vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
  • Inspect, test and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering and other vehicle systems.
  • Carry out repairs and replace faulty or worn components.
  • Perform WOF-related repairs and vehicle safety checks, where appropriately qualified.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and identify potential mechanical issues.
  • Use diagnostic tools and workshop equipment safely and correctly.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and other team members regarding vehicle repairs and maintenance.
  • Complete other reasonable duties associated with the Motor Mechanic role.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic or a relevant automotive qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems and repair procedures.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults.
  • Ability to use automotive diagnostic equipment and workshop tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • A commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • A New Zealand driver's licence or the ability to obtain one, if required for the role.
