Karmaa Limited is seeking a skilled Carpenter/Joiner to join our dedicated team in Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand. In this full-time role, you will work closely with site supervisors and fellow team members to bring construction projects to life, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of carpentry techniques, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. This position offers the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week, allowing for a stable work-life balance.
Core Responsibilities
- Interpret and analyze construction drawings and specifications to determine project requirements and timelines.
- Select, prepare, and cut timber and other materials accurately to meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Assemble and join components to create structures, fittings, and frameworks according to design plans.
- Construct and install various elements, including roof framing, flooring, and door/window frames, ensuring precision.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on existing structures, ensuring durability and compliance with safety regulations.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in carpentry or joinery, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, construction specifications, and building codes.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues on-site effectively and efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and site supervisors.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in the construction industry, with a commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
Your Tech Stack
- Hand tools: chisels, saws, hammers, measuring devices, and levels for precise work.
- Power tools: drills, nail guns, circular saws, and jigsaws for efficient construction.
- Materials: wood, laminates, perspex, and metals for various construction and fitting needs.
- Safety equipment: PPE, including helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
- Software: familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD or similar programs is a plus.
Compensation
- Hourly wage ranging from $32 to $37, commensurate with experience and skill level.
- Permanent, full-time role with a minimum of 30 hours and a maximum of 40 hours per week.
