We are currently seeking to recruit one Beauty and Nail Care Specialist to join the team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Wellington, with guaranteed minimum hours of 30 per week (typically ranging from 30 to 40 hours). Work will be rostered on a shift basis from Monday to Sunday, between 9:00am and 9:00pm, to accommodate the extended trading hours of shopping malls. The remuneration for the position ranges from NZD 28 to NZD 35 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with clients to assess their nail and beauty needs, identify any relevant conditions or contraindications, and recommend suitable treatments.
- Develop appropriate treatment plans based on each client’s preferences, nail condition, skin sensitivity, and desired results.
- Provide professional manicure and pedicure treatments, including nail shaping, cuticle care, gel polish application, Builder Gel, nail art, and restorative nail care.
- Apply, maintain, repair, infill, and safely remove a range of nail enhancement systems, including Gel-X extensions, acrylic extensions, SNS/dipping powder, and other artificial nail systems.
- Perform a range of eyelash and eyebrow treatments, including lash lift and tint, eyelash extensions, eyebrow waxing and tinting, and brow lamination.
- Provide beauty therapy treatments within the technician’s training and competence, including Swedish massage, back facial treatments and facial using appropriate techniques and products according to individual client needs.
- Provide hand and foot care treatments, including exfoliation, massage, moisturising, and other suitable beauty-care techniques.
- Explain treatment procedures, provide appropriate aftercare advice, and recommend suitable beauty treatments and retail products to support ongoing client care.
- Monitor client comfort and treatment results, maintain accurate consultation and treatment records, and respond professionally to client enquiries or concerns.
- Prepare, clean, and maintain treatment areas, tools, products, and equipment in a safe and hygienic condition in accordance with workplace health, safety, and hygiene requirements.
- Build positive client relationships, manage appointments efficiently, support reception and daily salon operations when required, and work collaboratively with other team members.
Job Requirements
- At least two years of relevant work experience in the industry.
- A relevant qualification in nail technology, beauty therapy, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
- Good knowledge and practical experience in nail and beauty treatments, hygiene requirements, and client care.
- Ability to perform treatments safely and professionally while maintaining consistent quality standards in a busy salon environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer-service focus.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
