Able Minds is a trusted community organisation dedicated to improving outcomes for tangata whaiora, whānau, tamariki, rangatahi and communities across the Southern region. As we enter our next stage of growth, we are seeking an outstanding Chief Executive Officer to lead our organisation, strengthen our impact, and build on the culture and values that make Able Minds unique.
  
The Opportunity
  
This is a role for a proven leader who combines strong business capability with genuine care for people and communities.
  
While leadership experience and commercial acumen are important, cultural fit is paramount. We are looking for someone who leads with authenticity, builds trust quickly, empowers others, and is passionate about creating a positive organisational culture.
  
You will be equally comfortable developing strategy with the Board, engaging with stakeholders and funders, leading organisational growth, and stepping in to write and present proposals when opportunities arise.
  
You are an experienced senior leader with:
  • A strong track record of organisational leadership and growth.
  • Exceptional people leadership and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement experience across government, community and funding sectors.
  • Strong financial management and commercial capability.
  • Experience working effectively with Boards and governance structures.
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution.

  • A strong communicator and natural relationship builder.
  • Collaborative, emotionally intelligent and resilient.
  • Comfortable leading change and making difficult decisions.
