Experienced Procurement Buyer required for Dodson Group’s Wairau Valley manufacturing operation. We are seeking an experienced Procurement Buyer to join our team at our Wairau Valley facility.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this permanent full-time role is responsible for leading procurement activities across assigned supplier categories while ensuring the timely supply of quality materials and components that support our manufacturing operations.

This is a role for someone who enjoys supplier relationship management, commercial negotiations and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and managing procurement activities across assigned supplier categories.
  • Conducting supplier sourcing, market research, RFQ processes and supplier evaluations.
  • Obtaining quotations and supporting supplier negotiations to achieve commercial value and cost efficiencies.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance across quality, cost and delivery.
  • Analysing procurement expenditure, purchasing trends, supplier performance and market conditions to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Identifying and mitigating procurement and supply chain risks.
  • Investigating and resolving supplier quality issues, delivery delays and commercial matters.
  • Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to understand procurement requirements and operational priorities.
  • Ensuring procured goods meet quality, technical and commercial requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate procurement records within the ERP system.
  • Supporting inventory planning, stock management and supply continuity.
  • Contributing to procurement process improvements and supplier performance initiatives.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Previous experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain management is required.
  • Experience in discrete manufacturing and/or the automotive industry is required.
  • Experience working with a global supply base is required.
  • Demonstrated experience building supplier relationships and negotiating commercial outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret purchasing and supplier performance data.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience using ERP or procurement management systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise competing workloads and work collaboratively across multiple departments.
  • A proactive approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement.

A tertiary qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Commerce or a related discipline is required, or equivalent relevant industry experience.

Position overview

  • Remuneration of $75,000 gross per annum.
