We are looking for an experienced Steel Fixing Supervisor to join our team, working across construction projects throughout the Manawatū-Whanganui Region.

This is a hands-on supervisory role involving the coordination of reinforcing steel work on construction sites. You will be responsible for supervising workers, organising labour and materials, monitoring the quality and progress of work, and ensuring reinforcing work is completed safely and in accordance with construction drawings and specifications.

The successful applicant must be flexible and available to travel to different project sites throughout the Manawatū-Whanganui Region as required.

$34.00-$37.00 per hour depending on experience. 

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate steel fixers and other workers undertaking reinforcing steel work on site.
  • Allocate daily work and provide instructions to workers.
  • Monitor the quality and progress of work.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, technical specifications and reinforcing drawings.
  • Coordinate reinforcing work with site managers, builders, contractors and other trades.
  • Assist with planning labour, materials and the sequencing of reinforcing work.
  • Check the positioning, spacing, measurements and fixing of reinforcing steel and mesh against drawings and specifications.
  • Identify any work that does not meet requirements and arrange for corrections where necessary.
  • Monitor material requirements and advise management when additional materials are required.
  • Provide guidance and practical instruction to less experienced workers.
  • Undertake practical steel-fixing work where required, including measuring, cutting, bending, positioning and securing reinforcing steel and mesh.
  • Ensure work is carried out safely and in accordance with company and site requirements.
  • Travel to different construction projects throughout the Manawatū-Whanganui Region as required.

Skills and experience

Applicants must have either:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification; or
  • At least three years of relevant work experience.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider construction team.
  • The flexibility to travel and work at different project sites throughout the Manawatū-Whanganui Region.
