We are seeking a skilled and reliable Painter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paints and protective coatings, and delivering high-quality finishes across residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling cracks and holes, and removing old paint or wallpaper.
- Select and prepare paints, stains, varnishes, and other coating materials by mixing colours and textures to achieve the required finish.
- Apply paints, varnishes, stains, lacquers, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Hang wallpaper, vinyl wall coverings, and decorative finishes where required.
- Protect surrounding areas with drop sheets, masking tape, and other protective materials before commencing work.
- Erect and work safely from ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms as required.
- Inspect completed work to ensure a high-quality finish and carry out touch-ups where necessary.
- Clean, maintain, and store painting tools and equipment.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and comply with relevant building standards.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, and other tradespeople to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.
Skills and Experience
- A relevant qualification (NZQF Level 4 or equivalent) or at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Sound knowledge of surface preparation techniques, paint products, and application methods.
- Experience using painting tools, spray equipment, and access equipment safely.
- Ability to read and interpret job specifications and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Good physical fitness and ability to work at heights when required.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- A current driver's licence is desirable.
What We Offer

- Minimum 30 hours per week
- $27- $30 per hour depending on experience
