About the Role
We are looking for a Life Science Technician to support our mushroom production, laboratory and quality control activities in Auckland.
The role is suited to a person with a background in biological science, environmental science, biotechnology, plant or animal science, microbiology, or a related field.
The successful candidate will work closely with the production and technical team to monitor biological and environmental conditions, maintain production records, support laboratory activities and assist with quality control throughout the mushroom production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with monitoring mushroom growth and biological production conditions.
- Collect, record and maintain samples and production data.
- Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, ventilation and cleanliness.
- Assist with basic laboratory observation, testing and sample handling.
- Support mushroom culture and production quality control activities.
- Identify and report abnormal growth, contamination risks or other production issues.
- Maintain accurate records of production, environmental conditions and quality observations.
- Assist with hygiene, cleaning and contamination-control procedures.
- Support the technical team in improving production processes and consistency.
- Follow workplace health and safety, food safety and standard operating procedures.
- Perform other technical and production support duties as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- A relevant qualification in biological science, conservation biology, biotechnology, microbiology, animal and plant science, environmental science or a related discipline.
- Practical experience with biological observation, monitoring, sampling or laboratory work.
- Good attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
- An understanding of biological processes and environmental conditions.
- The ability to work carefully with samples, equipment and production materials.
- God communication and teamwork skills.
- A practical and hands-on approach to work.
- The ability to learn new technical procedures and adapt to a production environment.
- A strong awareness of hygiene, safety and contamination control.
- Previous experience in laboratory assistance, biological testing, environmental monitoring, agriculture, food production, animal or plant science will be an advantage.
