Lead backend services design and delivery for client projects in a hybrid Auckland or Wellington setup

The Role

We have some exciting upcoming contract opportunities here at ClearPoint and are looking for experienced Senior Backend Engineers based in Auckland or Wellington to join us and help deliver quality outcomes for our clients across a range of projects.

You'll be working in a hybrid model, with 3 days a week onsite at our client's site, collaborating closely with cross functional teams to design and deliver robust, scalable services. Sound like you? Here's what we're after:

The Experience We're Looking For

  • Extensive experience with Java and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data, and Spring Cloud
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
  • Solid grounding in automated testing practices and tools such as JUnit, Mockito, or Cucumber
  • Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Working knowledge of public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Nice to have: some exposure to frontend technologies such as React, JavaScript, or TypeScript
  • Nice to have: exposure to AI tooling, LLM based development workflows, or agentic coding tools
