Real | Mō mātou Our youth respite service in Tāmaki Makaurau provides a safe and caring environment for young people aged 14-18 years who may be going through a tough time dealing with things like anxiety and depression. A stay with us provides a break in a caring environment where taiohi are supported by our team of youth workers to get back on track to feeling well.

The role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi We're looking for a savvy and energised youth worker to join our growing service. If you are passionate about supporting young people to build confidence, resilience and wellbeing, and would like to work with a great team, we want to hear from you.

This is a full-time position, working 3pm – 11:30pm, Sunday - Thursday. Based in Hillpark, Auckland.

About you | Mōu: You'll be reporting to the Team Coach and working in a team of youth workers. We understand the needs of every taiohi are different, so we offer both day support and overnight stay options. During a stay, our team support young people to develop problem solving and life skills and build resilience. Our respite service is a place to land, learn and grow.

You will have:

  • A National Certificate in Mental Health and Addiction Support Work (Level4) or National Certificate in Youth Work.
  • An understanding of trauma-informed care and working with young people.
  • A full driver's licence.
  • An understanding of Information Technology – Microsoft Office preferred.
  • A current New Zealand first aid certificate or be prepared to obtain one.
  • Previous experience in youth work, social work, mental health and addiction preferred.
  • You'll enjoy being part of the team and be excellent in building relationships
  • You'll be flexible and have positive approach when dealing with challenging behaviours
