About the Role

As an Audit Associate based in Kirikiriroa / Hamilton, you'll support audit engagements across a range of clients and industries, helping organizations build trust through quality financial reporting, careful analysis, and clear communication.

This is a permanent, full-time role with a minimum of 37.5 guaranteed hours per week, generally worked Monday to Friday.

Your day-to-day could include:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of external audit engagements across a range of clients and industries
  • Performing audit testing, financial analysis, and risk assessment procedures
  • Reviewing financial information, contracts, invoices, and other supporting documentation
  • Preparing clear, accurate, and complete audit workpapers in line with professional and regulatory requirements
  • Identifying audit findings and discussing these with engagement team members and client stakeholders
  • Collaborating with colleagues and clients to obtain audit evidence, resolve queries, and meet engagement deadlines
  • Applying digital tools, including Microsoft Excel and audit technology, to analyze information and improve audit quality
  • Building trusted working relationships while demonstrating professional judgment, integrity, and attention to detail

Skills you will bring or develop in this role

  • At least 12 months of practical audit experience, preferably at a professional services firm
  • A completed tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce, or a closely related discipline
  • Understanding of audit procedures, financial statements, supporting evidence, and accounting standards
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence using tools such as Microsoft Excel and accounting systems, with experience in MYOB, Xero, Reckon, or similar helpful
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work well with clients and team members from different backgrounds
  • Progress towards, or eligibility and a commitment to work towards, a Chartered Accountant qualification or an equivalent recognized professional accounting qualification
