Lead regional investment planning and funding for mental health and addictions services in Te Waipounamu

Senior Portfolio Manager

Full-time three month fixed-term role based in Canterbury - Te Waipounamu. Develop and support high quality and timely investment planning initiatives/strategies.

About the Role

As a Senior Portfolio Manager, you will be one of the subject matter experts in your life course team. You will hold trusting relationships with Māori, senior sector leaders and health providers, including clinicians and the wider community to address key strategic and operational issues, negotiate key agreements and to steward change including driving service improvements.

This is a regionally based role, and you will work closely across the Mental health and Addictions team to support current contracting and strategic initiatives. This role is available for a limited time owing to staff leave but will provide opportunity to experience a regional and district approach to community and primary mental health and addictions service provision. You will work in with current team members, other Planning and Funding life courses and national teams to design and implement service improvements across Te Waipounamu.

About the Team/Service

The Mental Health and Addictions, Planning Funding and Outcomes Team are a regional team working to invest, build and grow primary and community mental health and addiction services in Te Waipounamu.

About You

You will be someone who can develop and maintain excellent genuine relationships with sector stakeholders and service providers. Being focused on the pursuit of Māori health gains as well as achieving equitable health outcomes for Māori will be important to you. You can also lead investment strategies, business cases, and funding proposals to successfully secure funding.

You will have:

  • Up to 10 years of Mental Health service provision/commissioning experience in varied environments
  • Significant experience in the mental health and addiction sector including suicide prevention
  • Understanding of the development of high quality and timely investment planning strategies and initiatives
  • An ability to think conceptually and anticipate the impact of decisions on long-term outcomes
  • Experience in health service funding with provider management oversight.
