Senior Operations Specialist

As a Senior Operations specialist as part of the Institutional Operations team, you will play a key role supporting our Markets business and ANZ Treasury. In this role, you'll focused on managing payment exceptions arising from the ISO 20022 Hybrid Address requirements. The primary purpose of these roles is to ensure payments that are unable to process straight through are reviewed, repaired, and released in accordance with ANZ policy& Industry standards. Role Location: Wellington

Role Type: fixed-term contract

Role Hours: Standard- 37.5hrs a week, Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm

What will your day look like? As a Senior Operations Specialist you will be:

  • Ensuring all payment repairs are completed accurately and consistently in line with ISO 20022 Hybrid Address requirements and ANZ standards.
  • Managing more complex or high-risk payment exceptions and supporting resolution of escalated issues.
  • Providing technical coaching and guidance to Operations Specialists on payment repair practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring exception volumes, identifying root causes, and driving process improvements to reduce manual intervention and improve STP rates.
  • Supporting quality assurance activities, control obligations, and operational risk management.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for ISO 20022 payment processing requirements and associated operational impacts.

What will you bring? To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Experience in payments operations, banking operations, or transaction processing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to assess data against defined standards.
  • Experience managing operational queues and working in a fast-paced processing environment.
  • An understanding of SWIFT and/or ISO 20022 payment standards would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
