About the Role
As a Senior Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Developer, aka Senior Data Engineer, you will lead and optimise modern data solutions that power insights Health Data Platforms. Working at the intersection of data, technology and health, you'll develop robust pipelines, scalable data models, and orchestration workflows using tools like Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, and GitHub.
You'll collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organisation, translating business needs into high-quality, reliable data solutions. From enhancing existing platforms to delivering new capabilities, your work will directly enable better, faster decision-making across the health sector.
About You
You'll be an experienced Data Warehouse Engineer professional with a passion for modern cloud technologies and delivering high-quality data solutions. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges, building strong stakeholder relationships and mentoring others while continuously seeking opportunities to improve systems and processes.
You will bring:
- Proven experience supporting and developing cloud data warehouse solutions, including Snowflake, DBT.
- Experience managing production cloud platforms, including releases, upgrades, monitoring, user administration and incident resolution.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement practical solutions.
- Experience designing and delivering process improvements, automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
- Experience mentoring or coaching colleagues and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Knowledge of modern data warehouse architecture, data modelling and cloud data engineering best practice.
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and improving health outcomes for all New Zealanders.
Desirable experience includes working with health data, Python development, SQL Server development, WhereScape RED and CI/CD practices using GitLab.
