Lead embedded hardware design and validation for reliable, compliant electronics

Electronics Engineer

The Electronics Engineer will be responsible for developing robust and reliable electronic hardware designs with a commitment to delivering a quality solution on time that meets or exceeds the needs of our internal and external customers. This is a role that helps to support the electronics/electrical engineering Community of Practice (lead by the Engineering Manager - Electronics) to ensure consistency of engineering practices. As well as working closely and collaboratively with the Hardware Engineering Team to ensure suitable designs that align with industry compliance and functional performance requirements, ensuring smooth delivery of products. In this role the Electronics Engineer will display competency in embedded hardware development in a constrained environment, understand the hardware/mechanical/environmental and software dependencies, and a test-driven development approach.

Electrical Design and Engineering

  • Support the delivery of Technical, Functional, and Operational Product Requirements and subsequent detailed project tasks with the assistance from the Project Leadership team to ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Produce design concepts together with detailed designs, considering the current and future needs of the customer, relevant standards, mechanical constraints, manufacturer, and reliability testing.
  • Apply Engineering best practices to deliver robust designs, that meet functional and non-functional requirements, in the most cost-effective manner, across the entire design process:
    • Development of product concepts, electrical designs, and design validation.
    • Ensure new components are suitably approved and documented.
    • Implement best practice Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and Design for Service (DFS) principles, to ensure the best solution for production and deployment.
    • Ensure goals are set and met in terms of scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Work with engineering teams on environmental and regulatory compliance testing.
  • Drive solid pragmatic approaches to Lean / Agile Engineering Development

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure all designs/solutions meet the requirements for RoHS and other global regulatory standards.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation is maintained to support design decisions and capture lessons learned for future application.

Continuous Improvement

  • Supporting Root Cause Analysis for customer product and supply chain issues, along with design updates and improvements in resolution of such issues.
  • Continuously look to improve quality, reduce costs and increase efficiency and provide feedback to the relevant teams to optimize the product.

Engineering Validation

  • Support and provide feedback to the validation engineering team during debug, troubleshooting, and failure analysis investigations, ensuring that the team is supported during the full lifecycle of all product development.
  • Develop design validation test plans, capture measurements and generate test reports, and prepare high-level summary documentation.
  • Drive continual improvement and promote cross skill development of the team and drive a positive mentality of ongoing quality improvements.
