Farm Manager at Pāmu's Parikanapa Station
As Farm Manager at Pāmu's Parikanapa Station, you'll step into a large East Coast hill country operation with real scale, challenge, and opportunity. You'll have the chance to make your mark on the property, and the team - helping shape long-term improvements across fencing, infrastructure, and farm systems.
You'll work closely with an experienced Business Manager and have access to Pāmu's wider specialist teams across HR, finance, communications, sustainability, and health and safety. That means you'll have practical advice around you, while still having the trust and autonomy to lead the day-to-day operation and make decisions that matter.
This role would suit an experienced Farm Manager who wants a fresh challenge, or someone ready to step into a larger-scale leadership role. You'll be joining the farm at an important stage in its journey, with the chance to help develop and run a productive, well-planned, and successful hill country operation.
You may already be managing a large-scale sheep and beef farm, or you may be ready to step into a bigger, more complex role. Either way, you'll bring solid livestock experience, good practical judgement, and the confidence to lead people, plan-ahead, and keep a busy farm moving.
You understand that running a property like Parikanapa takes more than day-to-day stock work. You'll be comfortable working on steep hill country, using horses and dogs where needed, and staying across the planning, people, contractors, logistics, budgets, and follow-up that sit behind a well-run farm.
You'll bring:
- Experience in large-scale sheep and beef farming, ideally including hill country systems
- Confidence working with stock on steep contour, using horses and dogs where needed
- A practical leadership style, with a genuine interest in coaching, developing, and bringing people together
- Experience coordinating contractors, including planning work, making phone calls, managing logistics, and keeping costs on track
- Good budgeting, forecasting, and planning skills, or the readiness to keep growing in this area
- A focus on improving farm systems over time, including fencing, infrastructure, stock rotations, and cattle performance
- A clear commitment to animal welfare, health and safety, and caring for the environment
- The ability to communicate clearly and work well with a wide range of people
- Confidence using farm systems, reporting tools, and data to understand performance and make good decisions
