The Opportunity

Downer's Energy Transmission team is looking for motivated Civil, Foundation Workers to join our Foundations crew delivering critical infrastructure projects across the central North Island. This is a hands-on role supporting transmission tower foundation works, including excavation, concreting, plant operation and heavy equipment operation in challenging rural environments. You'll work alongside electrical infrastructure and live circuits as part of critical transmission projects. Experience in these environments is beneficial, with training provided. Based from Valor Drive, Palmerston North, you'll mobilise with the wider team across Taranaki, Taupō, Manawatū and surrounding regions. Travel is a significant part of the role, with approximately 85% of your working time spent away from home, typically week-days.

Important Skills

We're looking for people with experience in civil construction, foundations or concreting environments, who don't mind working in rough terrain, with regular travel away from home. You'll ideally bring:

  • Experience in civil construction, foundations, concreting or similar field-based work
  • Excavator operating experience, ideally with WTR endorsements
  • A Class 2 licence or the willingness to obtain one
  • Confidence working around heavy plant and equipment
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and quality
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn specialist transmission skills
