An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced IDC Renewals Engineer to join our Transport & Infrastructure team in Taupo.
As New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) transitions to its new Integrated Delivery Model (IDM), this role will play a critical part in delivering high-quality renewals programmes and supporting the evolution of a smarter, more collaborative approach to state highway asset management.
Working closely with the IDC Renewals Manager, you'll provide technical expertise across pavement, surfacing, drainage and structures renewals while ensuring projects are planned, scoped and delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
In this diverse and hands-on role, you'll:
- Provide technical support for pavement, surfacing, drainage and structures renewal projects.
- Undertake site investigations, technical assessments and treatment selection activities.
- Support project planning, programming and delivery across the network.
- Monitor quality assurance processes, Renewal Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, efficiency and value for money.
- Build strong relationships with NZTA, consultants, suppliers and internal teams.
- Support and mentor developing engineers, graduates and emerging talent.
- Champion a culture of Zero Harm, collaboration and operational excellence.
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with a collaborative leadership style.
You'll ideally have:
- An engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
- A Full Class 1 Driver Licence.
- Experience within civil construction, road maintenance, infrastructure renewals or network maintenance environments.
- Knowledge of pavement, surfacing, drainage and asset lifecycle management principles.
- Experience in maintenance programming, cost estimation and performance-based contracts.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, quality and environmental management systems.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- The ability to influence, collaborate and build trusted relationships across diverse teams.
