247 Workshop Limited, a busy vehicle and machinery repair and panel/paint workshop in Mangere, Auckland, is hiring two full-time Vehicle Painters (automotive spray painters) to join our busy workshop.

247 Workshop Limited is looking for two full-time Vehicle Painters to join the team. Ideal candidates must have the following:


● 2 years relevant experience or a New Zealand Level 4 (or above) relevant qualification in automotive refinishing / vehicle spray painting

● A good eye for colour matching and a high standard of finish 

● Must be able to work on weekends and work overtime

● Must be flexible to work early-morning and late-night shifts

● Ability to work under pressure in a busy workshop

● Strong commitment to safe work practices, including correct use of PPE and spray booth procedures

● Be hard-working, reliable and motivated

● Can work well and efficiently both unsupervised and within a team

● Physically fit for the demands of the role

 

Job Responsibilities:

● Preparing vehicle surfaces for painting — sanding, filling, masking, cleaning and applying primer and undercoat

● Removing rust, old paint and surface imperfections, and treating surfaces with rust-proofing where required

● Mixing and matching paint colours to match each vehicle's finish

● Applying primer, base coat and clear coat using spray guns in a spray booth

● Blending and feathering paint into adjacent panels for a seamless finish

● Sanding between coats, then wet-sanding, buffing and polishing to a final finish

● Inspecting finished paintwork for defects such as runs, orange peel or colour variation, and correcting them

● Detailing and polishing completed vehicles

● Maintaining spray guns, mixing equipment and the spray booth in clean, safe working order

● Complying with all company and government health and safety guidelines

● Any other tasks that are reasonably requested by the employer from time to time
