We are currently seeking an experienced, hands-on Floor Finisher to join our installation team.

●        Pay rate: from $27-$35 per hour

●        Days required: 5-6 days/week

●        Hours per week: min 30, max 50 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

● Lay and fix floor coverings such as carpet, vinyl, linoleum, laminate, timber and tiles to plans and specifications.

● Prepare surfaces and sub-floors by levelling, cleaning, sanding and priming to ensure a suitable base for the installation.

● Measure, mark out and cut materials accurately to fit the area and match patterns, seams and joins.

● Lay underlay and membranes, and apply adhesives, grout, screed or self-levelling compounds as required.

● Install and finish timber flooring, including preparation, fixing and final sanding and sealing.

● Carry out detailed finishing work, including trimming, edging, sealing, smoothing and polishing to a high standard.

● Read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications to determine materials, dimensions and installation methods.

● Lay resin flooring and apply protective coatings and finishes where required.

● Calculate material quantities, prepare cost and material estimates, and assist with ordering and stock control of materials.

● Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality, accuracy and specification requirements.

● Operate and maintain hand and power tools and equipment used in floor installation (saws, sanders, grinders, trowels, etc.), including routine maintenance and safety checks.

● Follow strict workplace health and safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of adhesives and chemicals, and compliance with NZ health and safety legislation (Health and Safety at Work Act 2015).

● Work cooperatively with the team and other trades on site to meet project deadlines.
