Rooney Earthmoving Ltd is a family-owned, large South Island business with work bases in Oamaru, Waimate, Timaru, Ashburton and Christchurch. We have been around for over 50 years and have become a contractor with a reputation of completing many of the large-scale earthmoving projects in the South Island of NZ.
After many years in the planning, we are beginning work on a major water storage project in the Oxford area. As a result, we are recruiting civil construction roles to join our project specific team. The work will be in the Oxford area beginning now and progress through to winter 2028. The project with require Scrapers, Diggers, Dozers, Rollers, Dump Trucks, Graders and a sizable team of enthusiastic skilled workers. This will also be a training ground for some hard-working new operators who have a passion to operate machines.

We are eager to employ both skilled construction workers along with less experienced trainable staff with a good work ethic. Applicants will be considered across a range of skills including:
- Experienced and skilled on similar large scale earthmoving projects operating different machines.
- Civil operators who have GPS skills, can follow levels and understand the fill construction process.
- Workers with a proven knowledge of health and safety standards and systems on civil projects.
- Workers keen to work the hours but can look after the equipment.
- Workers who are drawn to the challenge and the excitement of completing a large job.
