BUILDING CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR

Hours of work: Minimum 30 hours per week (maximum 48 hours per week)
Pay rate: NZD $30.00–$53.00 gross per hour

Due to continued business growth, we are seeking a reliable and experienced Building Construction Supervisor to coordinate and supervise our construction activities across projects in Auckland.
About the role
The Building Construction Supervisor will oversee day-to-day work on site, coordinate employees and subcontractors, monitor quality and progress, and help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and in accordance with plans and specifications.
Key responsibilities

Planning, organising, and supervising day-to-day construction activities on assigned sites

Allocating work to employees and subcontractors and coordinating labour, materials, tools, and equipment

Reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings, specifications, schedules, and work instructions

Monitoring project progress and workmanship to ensure work meets required quality standards, specifications, and agreed timeframes

Coordinating the work of plasterers and other trades to maintain an efficient workflow and minimise delays

Providing clear instructions, practical guidance, and on-site support to team members

Conducting site checks and identifying defects, incomplete work, hazards, or other issues requiring corrective action

Ensuring materials and equipment are available when required and reporting shortages or delays to management

Maintaining accurate site records, including daily progress, labour, materials, incidents, variations, and completed work

Liaising professionally with management, clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and other trades as required

Ensuring workers follow workplace health and safety policies, site rules, safe work procedures, and requirements for the correct use of personal protective equipment

Participating in site meetings, toolbox talks, and health and safety briefings

Promoting clean, tidy, secure, and safe work areas at all times

Coordinating construction work programmes, schedules, resource requirements, quality control, and the resolution of on-site issues.

Performing any other reasonable duties related to the role as required by the employer
Candidate requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following:
-
Have at least one year of relevant experience in building construction, including experience supervising or coordinating workers on construction sites; or
-
Hold a relevant New Zealand qualification at Level 4 or higher, or an overseas qualification assessed as comparable, such as construction management, building, or a closely related field; or
-
Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in any field.
