About the Role
AIS BOP Limited is seeking skilled and safety-conscious Steel Fixers to join our team in Auckland. In this role, you will be responsible for installing and securing steel reinforcement materials for concrete structures across a range of construction projects. You will play an important role in ensuring structural strength, accuracy, and quality workmanship on-site.
Key Responsibilities
• Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to determine reinforcement requirements.
• Measure, cut, bend, and position steel reinforcement bars (rebar) according to project specifications.
• Install and secure reinforcing steel using tying methods, tools, and equipment.
• Assemble and place steel reinforcement cages for concrete structures, foundations, slabs, walls, and other construction elements.
• Ensure reinforcement work is completed accurately and in accordance with engineering specifications and safety standards.
• Use hand tools and equipment safely, including rebar cutters, benders, and tying tools.
• Inspect steel materials and reinforcement installations for accuracy, alignment, and quality before concrete pouring.
• Work closely with engineers, supervisors, concreters, and other tradespeople to coordinate site activities.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all site safety procedures, inductions, and toolbox meetings.
• Safely handle, move, and store steel reinforcement materials and equipment.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
• Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Steel Fixer in commercial, civil, or construction environments.
• Proven experience in steel fixing, reinforcing, and concrete construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and reinforcement plans.
• Strong knowledge of steel fixing techniques, including cutting, bending, and tying reinforcement steel.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour, including lifting and working outdoors.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety and quality workmanship.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred (not essential):
• Relevant steel fixing trade qualification or certification.
• Experience working on large-scale commercial or civil construction projects.
• Current first aid certificate.
• Full NZ driver’s licence.
