LING HANG BUILDING CONSTRUCTION LIMITED is an Auckland-based construction company specialising in home renovations and residential refurbishment projects. We are currently looking for three painters to join our team.

Employment type: Full-time, permanent
Hours of work: A minimum of 30 hours per week, Monday to Saturday
Pay rate: NZD $27–$35 per hour, depending on skills and experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surrounding areas by covering them with cloth or plastic to prevent mess and damage, and mask off areas as required.
  • Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, removing old paint, removing fixtures and washing surfaces.
  • Fill holes and cracks, apply filler where required, and sand and smooth surfaces in preparation for painting.
  • Move furniture and equipment as necessary to access all areas of the project.
  • Calculate the quantity of paint and the amount of time required for each project.
  • Mix paint and other materials to produce the required colours and finishes in accordance with instructions.
  • Apply paint, varnish and other finishing materials to surfaces using hand and power tools, brushes, rollers and spraying equipment.
  • Apply decorative and faux finishes as required by each project.
  • Identify and purchase the correct materials, including paint, brushes and other supplies, when required.
  • Clean tools and equipment and reinstall removed fixtures upon completion of each project.

Skills and Experience

Candidates should meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • A minimum of two years’ relevant work experience in the same or a similar industry; or
  • A relevant qualification or certificate equivalent to NZQCF Level 4 or higher; or a bachelor’s degree or higher.

  • Be reliable and able to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Be physically fit and capable of undertaking physically demanding work.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Have practical and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Show a positive, can-do attitude.
