Hunter Contracting Ltd is looking for an experienced spray vehicle operator based in Central Otago for the next season. The role involves spraying cereals, crops and grasses across client farms and properties on terrain ranging from flat to rolling.
The successful applicant will primarily operate a spray vehicle. We offer a guaranteed 30 hours with a payrate of $30-$35. 

The role runs from September 2026 until February 2027 on a seasonal basis. 

 

You will be expected to: 

• Drive and operate spray trucks and spray tractors on public roads and on clients’ farms and properties.

•    Carry out the spraying of cereals, crops and grasses in accordance with instructions and required safety standards.

•    Measure and mix agricultural chemicals accurately and handle them safely.

•    Maintain detailed and accurate records of chemical applications.

•    Communicate professionally with farm owners, farm employees and other clients.

•    Assist with repairs, servicing and routine maintenance of work vehicles and spray equipment.

•    Complete general farm work as reasonably required.

•    Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and promptly report equipment faults or hazards.

 

We're looking for: 

•    At least three seasons of relevant experience.

•    A current full driver licence suitable for the vehicles used in the role.

•    Good numerical skills and the ability to measure and mix chemicals accurately.

•    Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed instructions.

•    Effective communication skills when working with clients and farm staff.

•    Ability to work flexible hours across any day of the week, as the work is seasonal and weather dependent.

•    Commitment to rigorous health and safety standards and compliance with workplace drug and alcohol requirements.

Preferred: A chemical handling certificate is an advantage but is not essential.
