About the Role

As the Charge Nurse Manager for Ward E5, you will provide clinical, professional, and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. You will be responsible for managing people, systems, and resources within the ward, fostering a positive team culture, and supporting staff to achieve excellence in nursing practice.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical and professional leadership to nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage staffing, rostering, workforce development, and performance management processes.
  • Monitor and improve quality, patient safety, and staff safety outcomes through the effective use of ward-level data.
  • Support service planning, patient flow, and resource management to ensure efficient and effective care delivery.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, risk management, and change management activities.

About the Team/Service

Ward E5 is a 23 bed acute Paediatric medical ward with a variety of patients including conditions such as; Paediatric medical, diabetes, respiratory, and cardiac amongst many others. E5 is a busy, rewarding, and challenging area to work in, and we have an amazing team of nurses who will support your journey within Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand, Waikato

About You

As an experienced nursing leader, you will be confident leading teams, managing change, and driving quality improvement while maintaining a strong focus on patient-centred care.

You will also have:

  • Current registration and Annual Practising Certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
  • Significant clinical experience and a Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field.
  • Expert level practice within the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP), with the ability to meet Senior Nurse PDRP requirements.
  • Experience leading teams, managing people, and delivering change, quality, or service improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equitable health outcomes for Māori and all communities we serve.
