Earn 42 to 45 AUD/hr plus overtime as a fitter machinist in Western Sydney. Free flights and accommodation provided, varied work
Why Apply

Done with production line machining where you run the same program on repeat and no one cares whether you can actually set up a job from a drawing?

The company is a fourth-generation engineering workshop based in South Windsor, Western Sydney, specialising in heavy to light machining, fabrication, and mechanical assembly and repair. They need a fully trade-qualified Fitter Machinist who can read an engineering drawing, set up the machine, and deliver to tolerance without needing someone beside them. The shop is busy, the overtime is real, and the work is varied. This is a role for someone who wants to actually use their trade.
  • Earn 42 to 45 AUD/hr depending on capability plus 12% super, with overtime from 6:00am daily and Saturday overtime currently available on top for those who want to maximise earnings
  • Free flights to Sydney provided for the right candidate relocating from NZ
  • Free temporary accommodation provided on arrival, land in Western Sydney with housing sorted from day one
  • Varied work across heavy to light machining, fitting, assembly, repair, and fabrication support, no repetitive single-product production line
  • Autonomous environment where you are given a drawing and trusted to deliver, no supervision required for the right tradesperson
  • Fourth-generation family business with a plain-talking, get-on-with-it workshop culture where reliability and honesty matter as much as skill
The Role

You will be working across a full range of machining, fitting, assembly, and repair work at a well-established fourth-generation engineering workshop in South Windsor, NSW. This spans the complete fitter machinist scope, from CNC operation and programming through to conventional machining, component fitting, and mechanical repair. You need to be able to pick up a drawing, set up, machine, inspect, and deliver without hand-holding. Jason will know within a day on the tools whether someone is the real deal.

Day to day you will be:
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications independently
  • Operating CNC milling machines, machining centres, and CNC lathes across a variety of components and materials
  • Working on conventional equipment including manual lathes, mills, drills, saws, and grinders
  • Carrying out precision measurement using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, and height gauges
  • Fitting, assembling, dismantling, and repairing mechanical components across a range of applications
  • Working alongside boilermakers, welders, and engineers in a collaborative workshop environment
Current hours are 6:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday plus Saturdays, with the early start attracting overtime rates. Standard hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm. If you are a qualified fitter machinist, CNC operator, or precision machinist from an engineering workshop or heavy manufacturing background, this role is worth a serious look.

What We Need
  • Completed trade qualification as a Fitter Machinist, full apprenticeship required, no unqualified operators considered
  • Hands-on CNC experience across milling machines, machining centres, and CNC lathes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications independently, this is non-negotiable
  • Competent on conventional equipment including manual lathes, mills, drills, saws, and grinders
  • Precision measurement skills across micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, and height gauges
  • Fitting, assembly, dismantling, and repair experience across mechanical components
  • CNC programming exposure including writing, editing, and proving out G-code is a strong advantage
  • White Card and current driver's licence, both required
  • Stable work history and genuine commitment to local permanent work, candidates with a pattern of leaving for FIFO or mining money are not the right fit
  • Genuinely committed to relocating to Western Sydney long term, not testing the waters
Why This Role

At 42 to 45 AUD/hr plus 12% super, with overtime from 6:00am and Saturdays currently available on top, the earning potential right now is well above the base rate for someone who wants the hours. Add free flights, free accommodation on arrival, a family business culture, and varied engineering work across the full fitter machinist scope and this is a role built for a tradesperson who takes pride in what they do and wants consistency over chasing the next contract.

For Kiwi fitter machinists and CNC operators who are ready to make a proper move and land in a workshop that actually values their skill, this is worth the call.
