Sales and Marketing Manager

Employment type: Full-time, permanent, minimum 30 hours guaranteed per week

Pay: NZD $28.00 to $37.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience

About us

Silk Road Rugs is a specialist retailer of handmade and machine-made rugs, serving Christchurch customers with a carefully curated collection drawn from traditional weaving regions. Our showroom is built around expert, unhurried service. As the business grows both in-store and online, we are looking for someone to take full ownership of our sales performance and marketing direction.

The role

This is a hands-on management role responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the sales and marketing activities of the business. You will set the strategy for how we sell, how we present our brand, and how we grow revenue, while remaining closely involved in day-to-day retail operations.

Key responsibilities

·       Direct the development and implementation of sales strategies and set sales targets to grow revenue and customer loyalty

·       Direct pricing, product mix and stock purchasing decisions for the store

·       Coordinate distribution, supplier and agent relationships for imported rug stock

·       Direct the development and implementation of marketing and promotional strategies to build brand awareness and reputation

·       Develop initiatives for new product ranges based on market trends and customer demand

·       Set customer service standards for the store and oversee their delivery

·       Supervise and coordinate retail staff

·       Manage the store's website, social media content, email newsletters and online advertising

·       Manage the marketing budget and evaluate the performance of campaigns

·       Maintain store presentation and stock displays to a high standard

·       Identify and act on opportunities to grow the business's revenue and market presence

What we're looking for

A relevant bachelor's degree qualification (business, marketing, sales or a related field) Or A minimum of 2 years' relevant work experience in sales, marketing or retail management

Confidence directing digital marketing activity, including social media and email campaigns

Strong commercial judgement and the ability to set and work toward sales targets

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently
