Kiwi Hort (2022) Ltd is looking for experienced Farm & Agricultural Machinery Operators to join our kiwifruit orchard business.
Our operation covers approximately 30 hectares of kiwifruit across four sites in the greater
Waikato region, including Te Awamutu and Cambridge.
THE ROLE
You will be responsible for operating a range of farm and orchard machinery and supporting day-to-day orchard operations. Your duties will include:
Reading spray plans and following instructions for chemical quantities and mixing.
Operating tractor-drawn and self-propelled machinery for mowing, fertilising,
mulching and spraying orchards, accessways and roadsides.
Operating tractors, forklifts, loaders and other agricultural machinery.
Stacking, unstacking, moving and distributing fruit bins.
Transporting produce, fruit bins, equipment and machinery between orchard sites by
truck.
Transporting workers in vans and passenger vehicles.
Checking loading documentation and carrying out regular safety checks on machinery and vehicles.
Using machinery to assist with planting, irrigation, spraying and harvesting.
Carrying out basic machinery maintenance and ensuring equipment is kept in safe
working condition.
EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience operating farm or
agricultural machinery or a suitable qualification. The position offers $28–$35 per hour,
depending on relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
You will also need:
A full NZ or International Driver Licence with heavy vehicle endorsement; F
endorsement is desirable.
Previous spray-handling and sprayer-operation experience is an advantage.
The ability to work early mornings, as spraying is often carried out before wind
conditions increase.
Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to health and safety.
A positive, reliable can-do attitude and reasonable level of physical fitness.
A clear NZ Police report.
A clear drug and alcohol test.
HOURS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Minimum 30 hours guaranteed per week
Monday to Friday | 7:00 am – 7:00 pm
Early starts and occasional weekend work may be required depending on weather and
growing conditions, particularly when orchard operations need to catch up or get ahead.
