Lead Medical Advisor - New Zealand Familial Gastrointestinal Cancer Service

Permanent, part-time role (0.1 FTE)

National leadership opportunity within the NZFGCS

This position is only open to current Medical Advisors working within the New Zealand Familial Gastrointestinal Cancer Service (NZFGCS).

About the Role

Provide national clinical leadership for the New Zealand Familial Gastrointestinal Cancer Service (NZFGCS), supporting consistent, evidence-based care for individuals and whānau affected by hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes.

Working in partnership with the Service Clinical Director, this role provides clinical leadership, guidance and support to Medical Advisors across the service and contributes to clinical governance, service development, workforce planning, quality improvement, research and stakeholder engagement at a national level. This role plays a key part in supporting national consistency of practice, service development, and high-quality patient care across the NZFGCS.

This is a unique opportunity to influence service delivery and clinical practice at a national level while continuing to contribute to improved patient outcomes across Aotearoa.

About You

Essential requirements:

  • MbChB specialist qualification in a relevant area
  • Consultant appointment
  • Registered Medical Practitioner in New Zealand
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
  • Member of the relevant professional body
  • Currently employed as a Medical Advisor within the NZFGCS
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development

Desirable:

  • Previous leadership experience
  • Experience in service improvement initiatives
