ASTRO HOLDING LIMITED is an Auckland-based property and construction company established in 2023. We operate across residential development, renovation, commercial property maintenance, civil and site works, and property investment.
We work with a core project and management team together with specialist contractors and site-based personnel to deliver projects across Auckland. This structure allows our team members to gain practical exposure to different stages of construction, property improvement and project delivery.
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated Civil Engineering Technician to support our construction, renovation and property development projects. This is a permanent position with a minimum of 30 hours of work per week.
The successful candidate will provide technical and site-based support across project planning, construction coordination, drawings, site measurements, quality inspections, project documentation and progress monitoring.
You will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders to help ensure construction activities are carried out accurately, efficiently and in accordance with project drawings, specifications and relevant requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare technical sketches, plans and supporting documentation for residential development, civil and site works.
- Inspect civil and site works to assess construction progress, site conditions and compliance with project requirements.
- Interpret technical drawings, work instructions and project specifications, and apply appropriate procedures to support civil and construction activities.
- Collect and analyse site measurements and technical data, and carry out calculations to support construction planning and project monitoring.
- Estimate material quantities and costs for civil and construction works based on project plans, specifications and site requirements.
- Verify that completed civil and construction works meet project specifications, relevant standards and contractual requirements.
- Identify construction defects and technical issues during project delivery and assist with coordinating appropriate corrective actions.
- Assist with field testing of construction materials and site conditions, and record test results to support quality and technical assessments.
- Maintain accurate technical and project records, including inspection results, site photographs and construction progress documentation.
- Support construction programming by tracking work progress, upcoming activities and site resource requirements, and providing updates to project managers and site supervisors.
- Coordinate technical and site information with contractors, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated and followed during construction.
- Assist with project handover by completing final site checks and preparing relevant completion documentation.
Requirements
- A relevant Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or a related field;
OR
- At least three years of relevant experience in construction, civil works, property development, renovation or site-based project work.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications and technical documentation.
- Good understanding of civil engineering principles, construction processes and site coordination.
- Practical understanding of site measurements, construction materials and quality inspection processes.
- Good computer skills and ability to use relevant engineering, drafting, documentation or project management software.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with project managers, site teams, contractors and suppliers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate project and site records.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- A practical, responsible and problem-solving approach to work.
