Innova Electrical & Solar is seeking a motivated and reliable Solar Trade Assistant / Solar General Hand to join our growing solar installation team. This is a hands-on role supporting our qualified electricians and solar installers with the installation, maintenance, and servicing of residential and commercial solar power systems across Auckland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified electricians and solar installers with the installation of solar panels, mounting systems, inverters, and associated equipment across both roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar systems
  • Assist with ground mounting work, including groundworks, post/pile installation, frame and rail assembly, and site preparation for ground-mount solar arrays
  • Carry, load, and unload equipment, tools, and materials to and from job sites
  •  Prepare job sites, eg: setting up scaffolding, ladders, and safety barriers in accordance with health and safety requirements
  •  Assist with cabling, wiring runs, and general electrical support tasks under supervision
  • Perform general labouring and construction-related duties including excavation support, site clean-up, and equipment maintenance
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including working at heights protocols and safe groundworks practices
  • Accurately complete job sheets, timesheets, and basic site documentation
  • Provide excellent customer service when working on residential sites
  • Travel to various job sites across the region as required

Skills and Experience Required

  •  1-2 years of relevant experience in a trade assistant, labouring, construction, or general hand role — experience in the construction industry (e.g. groundworks, civil, building, or structural work) is highly beneficial, as our projects involve both roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar installation

·        Experience with, or willingness to learn, ground mounting work such as post/pile driving, frame and rail assembly, and general groundworks associated with ground-mount solar arrays

·        Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including working at heights on roofs and general labouring on ground-level sites

·        A full, clean New Zealand driver licence (or eligibility to obtain one)

·        Basic understanding of hand and power tools, and general construction equipment

·        Strong work ethic, reliability, and a good attendance record

·        Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team

·        A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn new skills
