Class 5 Truck Drivers

We are looking for Class 5 Truck Drivers to join an Auckland-based operation, running long-haul routes throughout New Zealand.

Drivers will commence their runs from Auckland and will be required to travel nationwide as required by operational and business needs. This will include overnight and multi-day trips away from Auckland. Accommodation will be provided by the employer when drivers are required to stay overnight outside Auckland.

This is a full-time, permanent role with a guaranteed minimum of 35 hours per week. Work is rostered Monday to Sunday and may include weekends, public holidays, early mornings, late nights, night shifts and overnight runs.

About the Role

The role primarily involves operating Class 5 vehicles, including truck and trailer combinations. At times, drivers may also be required to operate Class 4 vehicles where trailers are decoupled.

Drivers must have knowledge of and be able to operate vehicles with a manual gearbox.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate and manoeuvre heavy vehicles, including truck and trailer units, on long-haul routes throughout New Zealand. 
• Operate vehicles in accordance with New Zealand road rules, Health & Safety requirements, company policies and procedures.
• Carry out basic troubleshooting of minor vehicle issues, such as punctured tyres.
• Maintain compliance with logbook and work/rest time requirements.
• Accurately record work and rest periods, kilometres travelled, and fuel and toll usage/receipts.
• Complete required operational records and systems associated with loading, unloading and transportation.
• Assist with loading and unloading where required.
• Travel throughout New Zealand and undertake overnight and multi-day trips as required. 

Minimum Requirements

• Class 5 New Zealand Driver Licence, or equivalent heavy vehicle/truck licence if applying from offshore. 
• Knowledge of and ability to operate a manual gearbox is mandatory.
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends, public holidays, early mornings, late nights and overnight shifts.
• Ability and willingness to travel nationwide, with runs commencing from Auckland.
• Willingness and ability to stay away from Auckland overnight or for multiple days when required. Accommodation will be provided by the employer when staying outside Auckland for work.
• Ability to work safely in varying road and weather conditions, including heavy traffic and poor weather.
• Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling, including assisting with loading and unloading where required.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment police and medical checks and mandatory drug and alcohol testing, including testing during employment where required.
