Permanent 80 hours per fortnight

About the Role

As a Community Mental Health clinician you will be based in Hamilton but work across the Waikato community playing a key role supporting service users/ tāngata whaiora to maintain their health and mental wellbeing.

Day to day as a member of the multi-disciplinary team you will be working alongside tāngata whaiora and whānau in the community setting to reach their maximum mental health potential. You will need to build relationships with other health agencies for health promotion and to foster community engagement. A typical day will see you out visiting tāngata whaiora in their own homes and communities to deliver high quality mental health and addictions support.

• Maintain your professional development to ensure your practice is current and evidence based.
• Practice in a way that ensures it is person centred and recovery focused.
• Work to understand and build relationships within the community that you are working in.
• A commitment to support tāngata whaiora to transition back to primary services with the tools and resources they require.

About you

• Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
• Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
• A current annual practicing certificate with scope to work in the mental health sector.
• A current full drivers license.
• Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and how to apply this to your practice.
• The ability to be service user/tangata whaiora focussed.
• To be innovative and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team as well as autonomously.
• Have well-developed time management skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritise personal and team tasks.
• The ability to coordinate care and provide therapeutic interventions.
• Experience working within mental health and addictions service.
