An opportunity has arisen to join the Board of a large, well-established and highly respected New Zealand not-for-profit organisation.

We are seeking commercially astute individuals who can contribute to the ongoing success, sustainability and strategic direction of a complex organisation with a significant impact across the community.

This is a voluntary board position.

Whether you are an experienced director looking to add a meaningful governance role to your portfolio, or an emerging director ready to take the next step in your governance career, we are keen to hear from candidates who bring sound judgement, strategic thinking and strong commercial acumen.

Key Responsibilities 
  • Contribute to the development and oversight of organisational strategy.
  • Monitor organisational performance against strategic and operational objectives.
  • Ensure strong financial stewardship, sustainability and risk management.
  • Support effective governance practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee organisational health, safety and risk obligations.
  • Participate in Board and Committee activities, bringing thoughtful challenge and constructive insight.
  • Contribute to the appointment, support and performance oversight of the Chief Executive.
  • Act as an ambassador for the organisation and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
Candidates will demonstrate:
  • Strong commercial acumen and business judgement.
  • Strategic mindset and the ability to see the bigger picture.
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism and discretion.
  • The confidence to contribute robustly to Board discussions while supporting collective decision-making.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A commitment to good governance and continuous learning.
Previous governance experience is welcomed but not essential. We are open to applications from both established directors and emerging governance professionals who can demonstrate the capability, judgement and commercial perspective required to contribute effectively at Board level.
